Gilfry Horse & Cattle Transport (OTO): Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Ofelia Gilfry: Sole proprietorship – small company – 4 employees. Owner/operator ran a beef cattle ranch in CO – 35 years experience. Owner’s wife runs the office – background in accounting and finance.

OTO: When did you get started in trucking and how did that decision come about?

Ofelia Gilfry: 2014 – Owner could not find a job in the Phoenix, AZ area – no cattle ranches around.

OTO: Why is trucking a good career? Why did you choose trucking for a living?

Ofelia Gilfry: It’s a living. Not much else that owner could do.

OTO: Where is your business located and which areas do you serve?

Ofelia Gilfry: Arizona – we transport all over the country.

OTO: Where is the trucking industry headed?

Ofelia Gilfry: This is a very competitive business. Growth is difficult because of having to hire drivers that are horsemen and drivers.

OTO: Why trucking matters to the economy? Why is it important?

Ofelia Gilfry: Horses make a big impact on the economy but they are a luxury item – not a necessity.

OTO: How has trucking changed your life?

Ofelia Gilfry: Yes – the most difficult job I have ever had.
